Tracking with Sleep Cycle
Written September 2026. Sleep Cycle can change their app, their menus and their pricing without telling me. If anything here doesn’t match what you see, believe the app.
Chart My Sleep reads sleep data from Sleep Cycle, a phone app. If you’re not tracking your sleep yet, this is where to start.
The free plan can export
Sleep Cycle’s free tier is enough. There’s a paid tier too, but getting your sleep data out of Sleep Cycle works on the free one.
Sleep Cycle records when you sleep
You start it at bedtime, stop it in the morning, and it keeps the record.
It does a lot of other things — features like sleep scores, snore detection and a smart alarm. Chart My Sleep reads two things and leaves the rest alone: when you got in bed, and when you got up.
Why Sleep Cycle? It’s what I use
I built the original version of Chart My Sleep in 2023 for my own sleep data, I’ve used it ever since, and now I’m putting it on the web so other people with the same problem can use it too. It isn’t trying to be the tool for everyone’s sleep data — it’s the tool for mine, shared.
Where to get it
That’s their site. Download and setup are their department, and I’d rather point you there than keep a copy of their instructions here that goes out of date.
A week or two of tracking is enough to get started
A week or two is enough to start to see a shape in your chart, and you can make a chart any time after that. Sleep Cycle exports your whole history every time, so there’s no cost to making one early and another later.
If you’re tracking with a specific health question in mind, ask your doctor how long they’d want to see.
When you’re ready
Once you’ve got a week or two of nights, come back here and export them.
I’m not affiliated with Sleep Cycle. No partnership, no referral link, no money changes hands. I’m just a user whose life changed from tracking my sleep and making a sleep chart.
